The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the advances, applications, and challenges of NGS, starting with a history of first-generation sequencing followed by the major NGS platforms, the bioinformatics issues confronting NGS data storage and analysis, and the applications and challenges for biology and medicine in the world of “omic” expansion.
In this course, we will be covering the topic of NGS if you are a student of biological sciences and computers you would have heard the name of NGS (Next-Gen Sequencing). So first we are going to explain the basic concept of NGS how it is evolved and how it is helping data scientists one thing you got to remember is that this concept is new and a lot of work is being done so there will be a lot of limitations in this concept of NGS.
We are going to Cover three generations sequencing the first-gen which will be a detailed history of the sequencing methods and the next one will be Second Generation sequencing and now the Third one the most advanced methods of NGS and discussing a little bit about the platforms of third-gen.
In the next chapter, we are going to be studying the applications of NGS in the world of “omic” expansion like genomics and many other fields.
