- The exam is based on the IFMA’s Facility Management Body of Knowledge (FMBoK) and covers the following competency areas: operations and maintenance, project management, finance and business, leadership and strategy, and sustainability.
- The exam is administered through Prometric testing centers, which are located in various cities throughout the world.
- The cost of the exam varies depending on whether the candidate is an IFMA member or non-member. As of March 2023, the cost for IFMA members is 825, and the cost for non-members is 1,025.
- To be eligible to take the exam, candidates must meet certain requirements, including a minimum of four years of facility management experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- The passing score for the CFM exam is 75%. Candidates who pass the exam will receive a certificate indicating their certification as a Certified Facility Manager.
- If a candidate does not pass the exam on their first attempt, they may retake the exam after a waiting period of 90 days. However, they must pay the full exam fee again for each attempt.
