Every manager runs an unwritten theory of why people behave the way they do at work. Most of these theories are built out of a few personal experiences and are wrong in expensive ways.

Organizational behaviour is the version with evidence behind it.

Where the guessing costs money

You raise someone's bonus and their output does not move. You run an engagement survey, get a number, and have no idea what to do with it. A team that was fine six months ago has stopped talking in meetings and nobody can say when it started. Your best performer resigns and the exit interview says "new challenge", which tells you nothing. And a culture programme launches with a poster campaign and is quietly abandoned by March.

Each of these has a documented explanation and a method behind it. That is what this course is.

Three levels, in order

The individual first. Six personality frameworks — MBTI, DISC, PAEI, Belbin, Hogan, Big Five, 16 Personalities — with the honest account of what each one can and cannot tell you. Then stress and burnout, diagnosed at company level rather than treated as a personal failing, and connected to the turnover numbers.

Then motivation and attitudes: what people's motives actually are, how motivation converts into performance, Motivation 3.0 and why bonuses stop working on non-routine work, plus eight lessons on engagement — Gallup Q12, the twelve elements, the three generations of engagement practice, and what to do with managers whose scores are bad.

From the team to the whole organisation

Then the group: team development stages, diagnosing a team before designing anything for it, the GRPI model, and team building for remote and hybrid teams. And finally the organisation: organizational development as a full project cycle with entry, assessment, intervention, ROI evaluation, Kotter's eight steps, and company culture built through behaviour, rituals and hiring rather than through values on a wall.
