Course Description

"This course contains the use of artificial intelligence."

Prepare for the LEED Green Associate v5 examination through a structured, comprehensive course covering the principles, processes, prerequisites and credits behind the LEED v5 Building Design and Construction rating systems.

This course takes you from green building fundamentals and LEED certification basics to detailed credit requirements, calculations, project scenarios and exam strategy. It helps you understand not only what the requirements say, but why they exist, how they interact and how they may appear in examination questions.

The course contains 49 lessons organised into 10 sections, covering every prerequisite and credit in LEED v5 BD+C for New Construction and Core and Shell.

You will begin by decoding the examination and building a strong foundation in sustainable building principles. You will then study the organisations, rating systems, certification levels, minimum programme requirements, project selection rules and certification process associated with LEED.

The course covers the following major LEED v5 knowledge areas:

- Integrative Process, Planning and Assessments

- Location and Transportation

- Sustainable Sites

- Water Efficiency

- Energy and Atmosphere

- Materials and Resources

- Indoor Environmental Quality

- Project Priorities

Each category is presented as part of one connected building-performance system. You will see how early assessments affect later decisions, how requirements overlap across categories and how a choice in one area can create benefits or trade-offs elsewhere.

Memorising isolated numbers is rarely enough for effective exam preparation. This course explains the purpose and logic behind the requirements so that you can analyse unfamiliar questions instead of relying only on recall.

Lessons include clear learning objectives, requirement summaries, precise terminology, worked calculations, fictional project scenarios, memory anchors, knowledge checks and explanations of common exam traps.

Particular attention is given to the numerical thresholds, alternative compliance paths and direction-based concepts that are easy to confuse during the examination.

Topics covered include:

- The roles of USGBC, GBCI, LEED Online and Arc

- Rating-system selection, the 40/60 rule and minimum programme requirements

- Certification levels, point allocation and additional Platinum requirements

- Climate resilience, human impact and carbon assessments

- Green leases and the integrative design process

- Sensitive land, equitable development and connected locations

- Transportation demand management and electric vehicles

- Biodiverse habitats, rainwater management and heat-island reduction

- Water metering, leak detection and enhanced water efficiency

- Operational carbon, electrification and minimum energy efficiency

- Fundamental and enhanced commissioning

- Renewable energy, refrigerant management and grid-interactive buildings

- Zero-waste planning, material reuse and embodied-carbon reduction

- Low-emitting materials and responsible product selection

- Construction management and indoor air quality

- Occupant experience, accessibility, inclusion and resilient spaces

- Cross-category review and examination-answering strategy

The course includes worked examples that help you apply LEED requirements to realistic situations. You will practise selecting the correct denominator, identifying applicable thresholds, comparing alternative paths and interpreting project information.

All field scenarios use fictional projects, firms and people. They are designed to help you move from factual recall to application and analysis.

The supporting lesson materials span 1,029 pages and include approximately 480 practice questions with explanations.

You will also receive five companion resources:

- A detailed Student Guide

- A searchable Course and Credit Index

- A condensed Memory Sheet

- Reflex Cards for rapid review

- A 200-question mock examination

The Course Index allows you to locate each prerequisite, credit and threshold quickly. If a practice question exposes a knowledge gap, you can return directly to the relevant lesson instead of reviewing an entire section.

The Memory Sheet and Reflex Cards support short, repeated review sessions, while the mock examination helps you assess your overall readiness and identify the categories requiring further study.

The final section brings the course together through exam strategy, answering technique and cross-category review. You will learn how to identify distractors, distinguish similar requirements, manage numerical questions and approach scenarios methodically.

This course does not promise a particular examination result. It provides a thorough and organised study system intended to strengthen your knowledge, application skills and confidence before attempting the LEED Green Associate examination.

By the end of the course, you will have a structured understanding of LEED v5, a practical method for approaching exam questions and a complete set of resources for focused revision.
