This Safeguarding Adults and Vulnerable People course provides practical, UK-focused training for anyone who supports, cares for or works alongside adults at risk. Rather than focusing solely on policies, the course connects legal responsibilities with practical workplace actions, helping you move confidently from recognising a concern to taking appropriate, person-centred action.

Understanding adults at risk

Learn what safeguarding means, who may be at risk, and how factors such as disability, illness, mental health needs, isolation, age, dependency and power imbalances can affect a person’s ability to stay safe. Explore the key principles that support effective safeguarding practice.

Recognising abuse and exploitation

Understand different forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, emotional, financial and discriminatory abuse, neglect, domestic abuse, modern slavery, radicalisation and online exploitation. Learn to recognise possible warning signs and understand your responsibility to record and report concerns.

Understanding UK safeguarding responsibilities

Explore key UK safeguarding legislation and guidance, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, duty of care, information sharing, Prevent duty and multi-agency working.

Responding to disclosures

Learn how to respond calmly and professionally when someone discloses abuse. Practise listening without judgement, avoiding leading questions, recording the person’s own words and reporting concerns promptly.
