Course Description
Computers are changing. Quantum computers are coming, and they will break the security we use today. To fix this, NIST (the National Institute of Standards and Technology) has released three new standards. These are called FIPS 203, FIPS 204, and FIPS 205.
If you work in security, IT, or cryptography, you need to know exactly how these work. I created this practice test course to help you check your knowledge. I want to make sure you understand the technical details of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).
This is not just a simple quiz. I have written over 550 questions that test deep technical skills. You will not just memorize names; you will look closely at how the math and code actually work.
What Will You Practice?
I have broken this course into 6 clear sections. Each section focuses on a specific part of the new NIST standards.
1. PQC Foundations & NIST Process (50 Questions) Before you build, you must understand the ground rules.
Why do we need PQC? (Understanding Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms).
How did NIST pick these winners?
What is the difference between a "Key Encapsulation Mechanism" (KEM) and a "Digital Signature"?
2. FIPS 203: ML-KEM / CRYSTALS-Kyber (130 Questions) This is the standard for sharing secret keys. You will face questions on:
Key Generation: How we make the matrix and vectors.
Encapsulation: How to wrap a key safely.
Decapsulation: How to unwrap it and check for errors.
The Math: Understanding "Module Learning With Errors" (MLWE) without getting a headache.
3. FIPS 204: ML-DSA / CRYSTALS-Dilithium (130 Questions) This is the new standard for digital signatures using lattices. We will test you on:
Signing & Verifying: The exact steps to prove a document is real.
Hints & Packing: How we make the signature smaller.
Security: Why "Rejection Sampling" keeps your private key safe.
4. FIPS 205: SLH-DSA / SPHINCS+ (90 Questions) This is the backup plan. It uses hash functions instead of lattices.
Statelessness: Why you don’t need to remember past signatures.
Hypertrees: How we stack many trees to be secure.
FORS & WOTS+: The building blocks inside the signature.
5. Security & Performance (75 Questions) Real-world choices matter.
NIST Levels 1, 3, and 5: Which one should you pick?
Trade-offs: Speed vs. Size. Which algorithm is fastest? Which one uses the least memory?
Packet Sizes: How big are the keys? Will they fit in a network packet?
6. Integration & Migration (75 Questions) How do we move from old RSA to new PQC?
Hybrid Mode: Using both old and new keys together for safety.
Protocols: How this fits into TLS 1.3, VPNs, and Smart Cards.
Risks: Avoiding "Downgrade Attacks" and handling large data.
Why Join This Practice Test?
I Explain Every Answer: I don't just tell you "B is correct." I tell you why B is correct. I also explain why the other options are wrong. This helps you learn while you test.
Technical Depth: These questions are not easy fluff. They cover the real technical specs (parameters, byte sizes, functions like NTT and SHAKE).
Stay Ahead: PQC is happening right now. By mastering these FIPS documents, you make yourself very valuable to employers.
Is This Course For You?
